House Rewiring · from £3000

House rewiring in Crewe. Fixed price, and you can still live in it.

A rewire is the most disruptive job in the trade and the one most often quoted vaguely. Ours are fixed price, phased room by room, and you get told what each week looks like before we start.

House Rewiring, in plain terms.

First fix cabling during a full house rewire

What it is

Replacing the fixed wiring throughout: new circuits, new board, new accessories, new earthing and bonding, tested and certified.

Who it is for

Owners of properties wired before the mid 1970s, anyone with rubber or fabric insulated cable, and buyers acting on a survey.

When you need it

Black rubber or fabric cable, round pin sockets, no earth at the lighting points, or an EICR that comes back with multiple C2s across every circuit.

Why it matters who does it

A rewire touches every circuit in the building. The certification at the end is what an insurer and a future buyer will ask for.

How we run it

Start to finish.

Fixed price or day rate, whichever suits the job, agreed with you up front.

  1. Survey every room and agree exactly what goes where, in writing.
  2. Fixed price quote, phased by area of the house.
  3. First fix, then plastering, then second fix.
  4. Full test, Electrical Installation Certificate and Part P notification.
Crewe specifically

What rewiring looks like in Crewe.

The Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the old railway works are the classic Crewe rewire. Solid walls mean chasing rather than lifting cavity, cellars and under-stairs cupboards make useful cable routes, and the party wall arrangement in a terrace means planning where circuits run before anything gets cut. Five to ten working days is realistic for a three-bed of this type.

Local housing: Victorian and Edwardian railway terraces through the centre and west, large post-war council-built estates, and newer developments out towards Leighton and Wistaston.

The terraced stock around the railway works is where we find the most rewiring work: rubber-insulated cable, no earth at the lighting points, and boards that were already old in the eighties.

The detail

The specifics, for anyone who wants them.

Full versus partial

A partial rewire replaces some circuits and keeps others. It is legitimate where, for example, the lighting is sound but the ring finals are not. It is not legitimate as a way of making a quote look cheaper. We will tell you which circuits we are leaving and why.

Living in the house during the work

Most people do. We phase by area so you keep a working kitchen and at least one usable bedroom throughout. Expect dust, lifted floorboards and chased walls in whichever area is live that week.

What the price includes and what it does not

Our quotes include all electrical work, the board, accessories, testing and certification. They do not include plastering, decorating or floor coverings unless we say so explicitly. Ask any quote you receive whether making good is included, because that is where the surprises come from.

Straight answers.

How long does a rewire take?

Roughly five to ten working days for a three-bed semi, depending on access and whether the floors come up easily.

Do we need to move out?

Usually not. It is dusty and inconvenient but liveable if we phase it properly.

Will you make good the walls?

We chase and patch. Full plastering and decorating is a separate trade and we will say so in the quote rather than leave it vague.
